What exactly is a lifestyle session, and should I get one done?
You've heard the term "Lifestyle Session," and you're thinking to yourself, "what the heck is a Lifestyle Session!?" Well, I'm here to shed some light on what all these sessions entail and to share why I love photographing them.
A Lifestyle Session is simply a documentary style photo session that is done within your own home. I come to your house and just spend time documenting your family's everyday life. If you have kiddos, I'll follow them around for a good while, watching them run around in the yard, jump on the bed, play with their siblings and pets, etc. I might spend some time photographing the private moments of you nursing; I might catch a few pictures of you and your spouse smooching; I might snap some photos while you're making a snack, and I may just sit on the floor and make noises trying to make your little one smile.
I'll most definitely take some posed pictures of your entire family, usually on a bed or porch. However, I definitely won't ask y'all to clean the house or sweep the floors. I'm there to document your life - all the spills on the floor, the dog hair on the couch, the dishes in the sink, and the piles of laundry on the table.
I love photographing Lifestyle Sessions because I am truly documenting your life. I'm capturing all of those fleeting moments that you won't get back. When I'm photographing in your home, I find that it's more intimate and personal. I'm not just there to get the smiles; I'm there to capture the moments of joy, laughter, solitude, or, most often, tears.
I also love offering these sessions as an alternative to an outdoor session in our southern summers or the chilly January and February months. No worries about sweat stains and frizzy hair or cold noses and fingers. And the most luxurious part for you is, you don't have to drive anywhere because I literally come to you!
I know many of you love the idea of doing a lifestyle session but don't necessarily have one of those "Pinterest homes." I want to reassure you, you don't need a "Pinterest home." All I need from you is some good window light, a home filled with love and laughter, and your willingness to allow me to come into your home. It's really that simple.
If you're truly interested in having a lifestyle session done, leave a comment or shoot me a message. I'd love to chat with you more!
