Intimate Wedding - Randy & Viki Hydrick
Back in August, Randy & Viki vowed their love for each other in front of their family, and thankfully, I got to be a part of it all!
I’ve known Randy and Viki for a few years now. We attend church together, and Viki is actually the worship leader for our church. When Viki called and asked me if I would be available to photograph their wedding, I was really excited and honored! They might not be that cute couple in their 20s, but who cares, they’re in love and have a Harley…how could I say no?!
Viki’s dad has passed away, so she had her youngest son walk her down the aisle, and all 3 of her children “gave her away.”
This cross and spot are significant because it’s the same spot in which Randy proposed.
Is it really a Covid wedding if there’s not a mask pic?
They had a small dinner and cake reception, and a bouquet toss for the girls per the request of Randy’s youngest daughter, who so happened to be the one who caught it. I think that was her plan all along, even though she’s only in high school.
Hey, Harley-Davidson, sponsor me?
As a photographer, it’s a dream to have a couple like Randy and Viki who are willing to take lots of pictures, and as I look at these photos, I cannot help but be thankful and grateful that I got to be the one who took them. In October, Randy was in a motorcycle accident and has been in the hospital and rehab since. He's still on the mend, but we’re so thankful that he’s still here with us. Viki tells me all of the time how thankful she is that we stayed outside and took extra photos. Randy might not ever look the same, and he might not have his soft, gentle smile anymore, but she gets to look at these photos every day and cherish them.
So please, I’m begging you, take the extra photos. You might hate the way you look in photos or feel rushed to get to the next thing on the timeline, but I promise that 6 months later, you won’t regret spending the extra 10 minutes. Life can change in the blink of an eye, but a photograph captures that moment, just as it is.
Randy, can’t wait to see you again soon!
