Mr. & Mrs. Burdette - Summer Wedding at The Barn at Greene Acres
Say hey to the new Mr. & Mrs.! When I sat down with Rodney and Makaela at their consultation, I had Makaela tell me the whole story about how she and Rodney met and got engaged. I knew they were both teachers at their local high school, but this past semester, Makaela was the new teacher on the block, and she just needed some batteries for her class's smart board. She ended up in the next classroom over, which was Rodney's, and the sparks flew from there. Makaela coaches volleyball; Rodney coaches football. Can we say power couple? After dating for a few months, they knew that the Lord had called them to spend their lives together. They went on a date in downtown Greenville, and Rodney had his 3 nieces and nephew help him pop the question. And that brings us to their wedding at The Barn at Greene Acres.
As soon as my assistant and I arrived, we ooed and awed at how beautiful this venue was. This was my first time at The Barn at Green Acres, and I was thrilled to photograph a barn wedding! Makaela and her bride tribe were so fun to hang out with and photograph. The robes were seriously some of the cutest!
One of my favorite parts of the day was when Makaela did a first look with her dad. As Makaela was walking out, I asked him if he thought he was going to cry, and he said no...but I knew he would ;) A moment that he'll treasure for a lifetime.
Makaela and Rodney decided against doing a first look, but still wanted to spend some intimate moments alone together. They exchanged letters, and Makaela gave her love her purity ring. It was a special moment, and I'm thankful that I got to capture it. I think it's so important for the bride and groom to take a moment together and breathe before their ceremony. It just allows for them to have a few minutes to reflect back on their journey and to look forward to the next stage of life.
Their ceremony was surrounded by Jesus and His love for us. I teared up as two of the bridemaids sang "Ever Be" (I walked down the aisle to that song *sniff*), and they tied together their cord of 3 strands. And the moment they had waited years for finally happened - they were announced husband and wife!
After a few portraits, we went straight into the other important things - i.e. food, cake and ice cream, and dancing! Let me tell you, after photographing in the heat for awhile, the ice cream was perfect. And nothing beats dancing together for the first time as husband and wife than dancing to your friends playing and singing, "Thinking Out Loud" by Ed Sheeran and opening up the dance floor with the Cupid Shuffle.
Had a to snap a few more portraits of the bride and groom because why not?!
The Burdette's wedding was a wonderful way to start off my summer season. I can never say thank you enough to my clients and friends who trust me to capture these special moments. Makaela and Rodney, I hope your time in Florida was relaxing, and I pray that this next phase of life would be the best one yet! Also, special thanks to my assistant, Lauren Lacomba, and to all of the other vendors:
